He Wanted Me

I gave Him my leaves, my fruit, and my bark.
He smiled at me as He graciously received them.
Then His smile changed to a very searching, knowing, stare.
“I want your tree,” He said.

I gave Him my tears.
He wanted my eyes.
I gave Him my walk.
He wanted my feet.
I gave Him my works.
He wanted my hands.

It was very clear now.
He wanted no less than me.
When I needed Him, He gave me the whole Tree of Life.
