They gathered ‘round to see what he would say now that he had grown so very old.
He pondered just a bit before he spoke.
“It’s been good,” he said, “it’s been gain, it’s been gold.”

II

Silence reigned while minutes ticked away.
He looked as though all had not been told.
But when he spoke again it was to say,
“It’s been good,” he said, “it’s been gain, it’s been gold.”

III

He looked beyond the limits of the room and saw the Father seated on His throne.
“It’s been good,” he said, “it’s been gain...”
Now he’s gone.
