Ode to Joe

Joe, in the arenas of the world
You carried this ole’ girl -
To the crowd’s applause.
Your mane and my hair
Went whippin’ in the air
And you made no flaws.

I remember every time
You’d stop right on a dime.
And at the slightest touch,
You’d turn from side to side,
Giving me the greatest ride.
You loved me so much.

Joe, I knew this day must come
When you’d be leavin’ from - my company.
But I’ve asked the Lord above
To let you feel my love,
As you leave from me.

Joe, I brought a little treat,
Somethin’ kinda sweet,
To help to ease the pain.
I hope you still trust me.
It’s how it has to be
And it’s for our gain.

Joe, it’s in the Master’s Hand,
And in His Master Plan
That today we part.
But somehow I hope you know,
You were precious to me, Joe,
You will stay in my heart.
